Join us to learn how to identify the birds you are seeing in your yard, as well as in the field, with co-teachers Kate Richardson, Director of the Stoddard Bird Lab at Tall Timbers, and Emily Duval, Professor of Biological Science. Kate is an accomplished biologist focusing on red-cockaded woodpeckers, brown-headed nuthatches, Bachman’s sparrow, and other songbirds. Emily, an expert in animal ecology and evolution, specializes in the evolution of complex social behavior in wild birds, including courtship and mating. After the demonstration, Kate and Emily will take you onto the nursery grounds, where you’ll have the chance to put your new birding skills in to practice during a hands-on field session. Please bring your binoculars if you have them. Proceeds from this event will support research at the Stoddard Bird Lab at Tall Timbers.
